Recent years have seen a surge in popularity for garden buildings; multifunctional spaces that create a deeper connection with nature. This trend shows no signs of slowing down with one of our most recent customers, The Greensome Ltd, opting to build an eco cabin for their garden.
The build featured bespoke windows and made to measure aluminium bifold doors supplied by CLIMADOOR for a flawless finish.
This project was completed for eco food company The Greensome and was located in Woking, Surrey. The brief was to support them in the creation of their first garden cabin by supplying made to measure bifold doors and windows to suit bespoke openings.
This type of project is becoming increasingly common for our team. Eco-conscious homeowners and business owners are driving demand for sensitive building projects which use sustainable materials and celebrate local landscapes.
We’re seeing this come into focus with the popularity of FSC® Certified doors and windows; reflecting a growing desire to minimise environmental impact, even in garden projects.
What exactly is behind
the garden buildings trend?
The shift to remote work sparked the initial boom with many professionals craving a dedicated workspace separate from the home. However, the appeal extends beyond work. We’re now seeing customers looking to maximise space with dedicated areas for hobbies, gyms, guest rooms or home businesses.
Bifold doors are excellent for set ups such as this and were our first recommendation for this project. Unlike traditional sliding doors, bifolds fold completely open, removing any physical barrier between your indoor space and the outdoors. This creates a visually uninterrupted connection, making a garden building feel like a true extension of our customer’s living area.
While the timeline for this project was restrictive, this didn’t phase our team. In fact, our customer expected the delivery within six weeks and was delighted when the products arrived in week five. They also appreciated our in-depth glazing knowledge which helped make product selection feel simple and not overwhelming.
Overall, our customer was very happy with how the bifold doors and windows were delivered. They remarked on the ease of installation in reference to how the doors were supplied with the main body already assembled for a fast and fuss-free completion.
To ensure the best results, our team took care to prioritise both aesthetics and practicality. The cool grey frames contrasted well with the natural warmth of the wooden building while the large windows and bifold doors helped create that seamless connection to the outdoors. Perfectly in-keeping with biophilic design principles to enhance wellbeing.
This was especially ideal for maximising natural light and fresh air. With the bifolds fully open it instantly brightened the atmosphere. Fresh air was able to circulate freely, bringing the sights, sounds and scents of the garden closer for the complete sensory experience.
The products recommended also allowed our customer to enjoy unobstructed views and an easy flow between home and garden. They also expanded usable space on the property and provided practical benefits too.
After listening to our advice, the customer chose double glazed bifold doors to allow for superior soundproofing and thermal efficiency. A smart choice for a growing business in terms of quiet concentration time and reducing energy bills.
