Fire Door Blanks

An FD30 door blank is a plain flush fire door leaf that resists fire for 30 minutes and is supplied 44mm thick. It only achieves its FD30 rating when hung in a compatible frame with the correct intumescent seals and fire-rated hinges.

Thickness: 44mm is the standard FD30 thickness; FD60 (60 minute) blanks are 54mm. These are constructed with flush faces (MDF, oak, ash, walnut or laminate) with hardwood lippings on all edges, supplied primed, fully finished or unfinished.

Yes, a 44mm fire door blank is an FD30 flush leaf with 30 minutes of fire resistance. 44mm is the standard thickness for 30 minute fire doors, against 54mm for FD60. A 44mm blank is 9mm thicker than a standard 35mm internal door, so check the frame rebate and hinges before swapping one for the other.

A solid core fire door blank (also called a solid fire door blank) is a flush fire door leaf built around a solid, non-hollow core that gives it 30 minutes (FD30) or 60 minutes (FD60) of fire resistance. Hollow core doors do not provide this rating. The fire rating depends on the whole assembly: solid core, hardwood lippings on all edges, intumescent seals, and a correctly rated frame and hinges.

A fire door can be trimmed to fit, but only within the limit set by the manufacturer's fire certification. Cutting beyond it voids the fire rating. For a non-standard opening, order the nearest standard width from 426mm to 926mm rather than cutting deep, or enquire about bespoke options. 

Trim allowance is normally a few millimetres per edge (often up to 3mm each side); the exact figure is on the product description. 16 standard widths are available in our range, from 426mm to 926mm. Sizes outside the trim limit need a manufacturer-certified custom door, not an on-site cut.
